Tamarindo was totally awesome. Very chilled out little town, right on the beach, safe, about an hour from Liberia airport. Great place to watch your kid learn to surf! Stayed at Diria which was good value - we ventured out into town for meals. Walk thru estuary at Playa Grande towards witch's rock - look out for thorns.

I had never been to Costa Rica before. I had no idea where to stay or what I was getting myself into. But staying at Barcelo was awesome. The food was delicious. Every night is a different cuisine. From BBQ to Italian to Seafood. The room was neat and the view was a spectacular view of the ocean. The only downfall were the drinks. They really do not put a lot of alcohol in them. I had to have maybe 4 or 5 drinks to get a "buzz." Overall though, I would go back!
