Perhaps Costa Rica’s greatest appeal is its incredible biodiversity. Just a short walk from Tamarindo town is the Tamarindo National Wildlife Refuge, which comprises 400 hectares of protected forest, including abundant mangroves and estuaries, where you can observe a variety of wildlife, such as howler monkies, iguanas, crocodiles, birds and much more. Just north of town is the Las Baulas National Park, which is one of the most important nesting sites for the leatherback turtle.

Tamarindo is one the most accessible beach towns in the North Pacific. The best way to get to Tamarindo is to fly into the Liberia International Airport, which is only 30 miles away. From there you can either rent a car, take a shuttle, or hire a private taxi service and in only 45 minutes you will be enjoying Tamarindo’s beaches and blue ocean. The other option is to fly into the San Jose International Airport. From there you can take a domestic flight to Tamarindo airport, take a shuttle or rent a car to see the beauty of country.

Tamarindo has a tropical climate with an ongoing ocean breeze, pleasantly warm temperature year round and low humidity. Costa Rica is only nine degrees above the equator, so you can bet on warm weather all-year round. The temperature of this area is generally in the 80 to 100 degree range, with a dry season from November to April and a rainy season from late May to October.
